Biography

Vanhooser grew up in Oklahoma City and worked various jobs during high school and college. He was a small business owner, worked the wheat harvests, was a surgery orderly, and a photographer. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Baylor University. He worked a year in a research lab and attended night school at Central State University before starting medical school. He earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He did his residency and fellowship in Radiology at OU before being certified in 1991 by the American Board of Radiology. He is licensed in Oklahoma and Texas.

Vanhooser and his wife, Alicia, built successful medical practices in Enid, where they lived for more than 25 years before returning to Edmond in 2016.

Vanhooser has been married to Dr. Alicia Vanhooser for 37 years. She retired in 2017 from a practice focusing on Women’s Health and Imaging, primarily Breast Imaging. She has transitioned into a successful real estate career. Alicia and their youngest son are both graduates of Edmond Memorial High School. The Vanhoosers have three grown children and two grandchildren.

Motivation:

Less government involvement in our daily lives is a key to preserving our liberties and long-term economic growth. We need transparent funding of state agencies, and we must lift the veil on the federal regulations attempting to replace what should be local control of our schools, health care, and other necessary services.
