Josh is a Delaware County native. Josh and his wife, Elizabeth, have been married for seven years. The couple has four children, Ethan (12), Walker (11), Katie (6) and Aubrey (5). They are active members of Elk River Baptist Church. Josh was born and raised in Grove. He graduated from Grove High School in 1995 and attended Missouri Valley College on an athletic scholarship before deciding his mission was to join the U.S. Army. Nine years later, following medical retirement from the military, he returned to Grove where he is raising a family. Josh works in management for Simmons Foods and coaches Little League baseball and football. Josh served combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. On a combat patrol in 2003, Josh came under enemy fire while protecting civilians. He was shot several times in the legs and abdomen, but continued to return fire and shield his wounded battalion commander with his body, eventually dragging him to safety. For his heroism, Josh received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for Valor.
