(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – 10/18/16) – The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-OK) today released a 2016 Muslim Voter Guide that provides information about the upcoming November election in Oklahoma.

The 2016 Muslim Voter Guide includes information about all of the State Questions on the ballot, how to simplify the voting process, frequently asked questions about voting, and a sample ballot.

“The CAIR-OK voter guide was created with the Oklahoma Muslim in mind but contains information aimed at making this election accessible to all,” said Anna Facci, CAIR-OK’s Events and Operations Coordinator. “There is much more than the presidential election on the ballot this November and participation in state and local elections has a significant impact on the future of our state and local communities.”

The guide also includes CAIR-OK’s recommendations for the state’s seven State Questions, including a letter from CAIR-OK’s Civil Rights Director Veronica Laizure about the dangers of State Question 790.

“This year, there are several very important and very concerning matters addressed in State Questions, including SQ 790, which dangerously weakens the separation between church and state that is an enshrined part of our legal history,” said Laizure. “It’s crucial for our reader to be informed of the down-ballot issues so that they can vote for the future of their communities.”

Hard copies of the 2016 Muslim Voter Guide will be distributed at mosques statewide and are available at the CAIR-OK office in Oklahoma City.

The 2016 Muslim Voter Guide is part of a continuing initiative of CAIR-OK to educate, engage, and empower Oklahoma Muslims in the 2016 election cycle.
