“This year’s Muslim Day at the Capitol is focused on civic courage. It is vital to the democratic process to use our voice and our vote to stay active and constant in expressing our concerns to elected officials,” said CAIR Oklahoma Advocacy Coordinator Nicole Baumann. “It can be daunting to be at the Capitol, but this day serves to empower Oklahoma Muslims to have the tools they need to be civically engaged and make the people’s house their home.”

The Annual Muslim Day at the Capitol presents attendees with a chance to learn more about state government and how to interact with elected leaders and hold them accountable. The day includes advocacy training sessions, youth activities, and opportunities to meet with state legislators. Panels composed of previous and current state legislators, advocates, and civil rights organizations will cover a variety of topics, ranging from “Advocacy 101,” “Identity in Politics,” and “Voting in Peril.”

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.
