“Ten years of service to the Oklahoma Muslim community deserves to be commended,” said CAIR-OK Board Chair Masood Abdul-Haqq. “We are excited and proud to honor Adam Soltani for his contributions to religious tolerance and freedom in our state.”

Since joining CAIR-OK in 2012, Soltani has presided over the growth of the state’s only full-time Muslim civil rights organization, including the hiring of its first attorney on staff in 2014, the establishment of a full-time Government Affairs Department in 2015, and increased statewide outreach in service of religious diversity and civil liberties in the state of Oklahoma. Soltani is the longest-serving Executive Director and staff member of CAIR-OK and has a long list of accomplishments, including the following:

  • Recipient of the 2014 Human Rights Awards presented by the Oklahoma Universal Human Rights Alliance.
  • Recipient of the 2015 Interfaith Leadership Award presented by the Oklahoma Conference of Churches.
  • Recipient of the 2015 Civil Libertarian of the Year Award presented by the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma.
  • Recognized in 2020, 2021, and 2022 as one of the 50 Most Powerful Young Professionals in OKC by OKC Friday.
  • Recognized in 2021 and 2022 as one of The Most Influential Young Professionals in Oklahoma by OKCYP.
  • Recognized in 2021 as One of the Most Admired CEOs in Oklahoma by The Journal Record.

In recent months, CAIR-OK has been involved in the historic resettlement of more than 1,000 Afghan parolees into Oklahoma City, the largest number of refugees ever resettled in such a short period of time.

Under Soltani’s leadership, CAIR-OK’s Refugee Services Department has undertaken projects such as distributing welcome meals and baskets to each family that arrived; distributing toys and treats to Afghan children at an Eid festival in May 2022; and recently, providing over 100 packed backpacks for Afghan students starting the school year.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
