Biography

Marilyn Stark is a conservative Christian serving her first term as State Representative in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Marilyn has lived in Oklahoma most of her life. Troubled by the apparent lack of communication among elected leaders, as well as with the public at large, Marilyn answered the call to run for office in 2018. A registered nurse with over 15 years working primarily in Intensive Care, followed by 20 years working in a non-profit ministry in downtown Oklahoma City, Marilyn brings a unique perspective to her role as a lawmaker. She has spent her life as an advocate for people in need. Identifying and working out solutions to problems has been Marilyn’s life work.

Marilyn is pro-life and values people at all stages in their lives. She is an articulate voice for the protections of our God-given personal liberty and individual freedom.

Representative Stark serves as Vice-Chair of the Health Services and Long-term Care Committee. She also serves on the Transportation, Administrative Rules and Non-Appropriated Agencies Committees.

Transparency and accountability in state budgets, communication between the legislature and the public, as well as finding solutions to prison reform, mental health, alcohol and substance abuse issues, affordable healthcare and funding education are a few of the things that top Marilyn’s list of concerns that require attention. Meeting needs while not growing the size of government is the goal.

A problem-solver by nature, Marilyn is focused on bringing positive, constructive leadership to her work in the Oklahoma House. Working together, she believes Oklahomans can truly move our state forward to meet the challenges we face.

Born in Iowa, Marilyn’s family moved to Yukon, Oklahoma where she spent her early years and later moved to Muskogee where she graduated from high school. Marilyn earned a BS in Chemistry and Biology from Southern Nazarene University and received her BSN in nursing from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing.

Marilyn is a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Marilyn has served in various church positions, including teaching Sunday School, volunteer youth leader, District NYI secretary, and choir member. She has served as a Registered Song Evangelist for the past 20 years. Marilyn currently attends, Bethany, Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
