Biography

Larry Boggs, a native of southeast Oklahoma, represents Senate District 7, which includes Haskell, Latimer, Pittsburg and portions of Hughes and Okfuskee counties. Boggs currently serves as the vice chair of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and is a member of the Public Safety Committee, the Transportation Committee, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Regulatory Services.

Boggs, the son of the late Buck and Ruby Boggs, is one of 11 children. He and his wife Karla have one daughter and three grandchildren. He is a retired general contractor and Vietnam veteran, who served in the Air Force and later in the Army Reserves. The couple currently runs a cattle operation and raise horses. The Boggs co-founded Eagles Rest Sanctuary, Inc., an Oklahoma nonprofit corporation focusing on the protection, preservation and expansion of the nesting habitat of the American bald eagles nesting in southeastern Oklahoma. Among other educational activities, Eagles Rest provides volunteers for the G. M. Sutton Avian Research Center’s annual bald eagle survey team monitoring bald eagles’ nests throughout Oklahoma.

Boggs served more than eight years as a member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau State Board of Directors representing nine counties in southeastern Oklahoma. He also served on the Latimer County EMS Board. He currently serves on the Latimer County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, is a lifetime member of the NRA and attends Red Oak First Baptist Church.
