Biography

As the son of two educators, John knows the value of a strong education. In the House, he fought to protect our rural schools and stop efforts to force consolidation. He led the efforts to pass the teacher, and educational staff pay raises while working to put more dollars into the classroom. John is committed to finding additional funding for our children and schools.

As a Marine, John defended our right to bear arms and understands the value of this sacred right. He is A-rated by the NRA and has supported every significant piece of legislation to secures our freedoms. John worked for the expansion of our State Your Ground law to places of worship so that defending yourself and others will never be a criminal act when in defense of life and property. He also supports constitutional carry and has voted for it at every opportunity.

John is the leading voice for rural Oklahoma in the state house. He has been recognized for his leadership by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, American Farmers and Ranchers, and the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. John has protected our farmers and ranchers from the environmental activists who want to tell us how to grow our crops and raise our livestock. He also secured funding to improve our watershed dams to protect our communities and ensure we have access to water. John stopped attempts to create a new capital tax that would increase taxes on landowners, farmers, and ranchers.

We see mismanagement and wasteful spending across state government. As the chairman of Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee, John has eliminated wasteful spending in agencies and ensured that money is going to help Oklahomans and not bureaucrats. He sponsored legislation that will require the auditing of every state agency.

The future of our state is dependent on bringing new businesses to Oklahoma. John is focused on helping job creators get government out of the way. He has worked to protect incentives that work while eliminating those that only provide corporate welfare. Because of John’s votes, we have brought new jobs to our district. He also knows the value of infrastructure in getting our goods to market and making sure businesses can grow. No one has worked harder to ensure funding for our state highways and county roads.
