Jay Steagall

Biography

Jay Steagall and his wife Kimberly of seventeen years are long-time Oklahomans with a passion for service to their family, community, and country. In 2004, Jay and Kimberly moved to Yukon, and in 2012 expanded their family by adopting their son and daughter, Brennon and Skyllar.

Jay enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard 1996, beginning his service with the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. In 2005, he became a commissioned officer in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, eventually ascending the ladder to the rank of Major. He is currently the pilot of a KC-135 refueling tanker for the 465th Air Refueling Squadron in the Air Force Reserve unit at Tinker Airforce Base.

With extensive experience defending this country through his military service, and now owning and operating a local gun shop and a firing range, Jay considers himself a fearless defender of our Constitutional rights. His strong belief that without the Second Amendment, we would be ill-equipped to defend the rest of the Bill of Rights is one shared by our Founding Fathers.

Owning a small business in his community and holding a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University, Jay understands the necessity for fiscal responsibility, budget accountability, and a reduction of the tax burden on individuals and businesses alike.

Jay understands that it is time for a new direction in our state government, one that provides accountability for the budget and responsible spending. He hopes you will join him as he continues to fight and defend life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all Oklahomans.

Platform Issues

Budgetary Accountability

To be a good steward of the taxpayers’ money, we have to defend it. To solve the budget issues in this state, we must first audit every agency.

No New Taxes

We don’t have a tax revenue problem – we have a spending problem. I will defend your hard-earned money to ensure responsible spending.

Second Amendment

The oath I took, and the promise I made to all Americans, was to defend our Constitution line by line. Every day I fight to defend our way of life as a pilot in the Air Force Reserves. My intimate understanding of the importance of our right to bear arms not only comes from my military service, I also own a gun store, operate a shooting range, and provide firearms instruction to enable gun owners to properly defend themselves.

Pro-Life

As a Christian, I believe life begins at conception. As a 22-year veteran, I fight for the rights of all Americans, even the unborn. I will propose and support all legislation defending children in the womb from conception through birth. The first duty of a government is to protect the lives of its citizens, the most important of which are our children’s.

Traditional Marriage

I believe that God’s Word provides us with the definition of His intent for marriage. It is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. As long as government is in the business of defining marriage, it carries a responsibility to protect and defend the traditional family unit, as it is the building block of society.

Education

Education is very important and needs to be funded appropriately, starting with the classrooms. I will fight to fix the broken system through budget accountability, eliminating spending waste.
