Biography

My wife Monica and I, along with our girls Emily (11) and Madalynn (9), live in Idabel, OK. We are active members of Idabel First Baptist Church and enjoy much of what SE Oklahoma has to offer. Many of those activities are the same ones that created fond memories for me as I grew up in SE Oklahoma, enjoying the great outdoors, local car events, riding 4 wheelers, camping and fishing.

At only 8 years old I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. A few years later I read a tract titled “Why Christians Should be in Politics.” I’ve never forgotten the message of that tract and I feel the Lord has called me to this service at this time.

Platform Issues

Taxes

Taxes are necessary to fund services and functions of government. However, government has a duty to be a good steward of the taxes collected. I believe that before government demands more money from you or me, it must prove the funds already collected have been used efficiently, that there is a legitimate need that is properly met by government (not family or church) and that the taxes be used for what we’ve been told they’re for.

Pro Life

I believe very simply. Life begins at conception and any intentional taking of human life from conception to natural death is murder and should be treated as such. For decades "Pro Life" politicians have done nothing to end abortion. It is time to stop the murder of babies in Oklahoma.

Gender

"The family is the first institution created by God. Marriage is a lifetime covenant between one man, one woman, and God. There are only two genders - male and female. God made each of us in His perfect wisdom and no hormone or surgery can change that. The family has been under attack for years and we are seeing the results in our current cultural decay. We must promote and encourage God's design for marriage and family."

Education

"It is the right and responsibility of parents to direct their children’s education whether public, private, charter or by other means, without interference, regulation or penalty from the government. I believe the local teachers and Boards can best assess individual students, rather than standardized testing. I support responsible funding for education - and oppose bloated administration and bureaucracy that take control and funding from local schools."

Religion

"The phrase 'separation of church and state' is found nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution. Faith in God and acknowledging His principles and moral laws in government is what our Nation was founded on. The Christian church has a duty to engage in the government. We the people should endeavor to keep God and His principles in our government and protect the freedom to live out that faith publicly in our everyday lives. If our Nation loses its sense of moral and natural law, the people will lose everything."

Business

"As a small business owner, I believe the best way for government to help small business is to stay out of the way. The old adage “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” proves itself time and again with government 'intervention.' The secret to American economic success in the past has been our reliance on each other, not on government. We saw a need, talked with our neighbors and figured out how to get the job done. We didn’t need to be told to do it or how to do it. We just did it. That’s the kind of attitude that makes America Great."
