Teh crazy is strong with this one. So much so that I don’t even know where to start.

According to The Oklahoman,

The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is criticizing state Rep. John Bennett for a Facebook post saying people should be wary of those who say they are “Muslim American.”

The FB post linked to sharia unveiled and it linked a story from Reuters about ISIS and murdered Christians. (Note: this is where the source link takes you from the blog. It doesn’t appear to me to be the same article.)

Bennett’s post reads:

Islam and Muslim are one in the same. They are adjectives describing their religion. Islam is the religion, Muslim is the person that follows Islam. If someone claims to be Muslim they subscribe to Islam (Quran). The Quran clearly states that non Muslims should be killed. Arab is the ethnicity, not Muslim or Islam. Be wary of the individuals who claim to be “Muslim American”. Be especially wary if you’re a Christian.

But then Bennett doubles, and even triples down on teh crazy on his FB page.

A following post that links to madworldnews.com reads thusly:

So the Council on American-Islamic Relations is reading my Facebook and demanding an apology for what I said…. well, since your monitoring my facebook… I WILL NOT apologize to you. I know who you are and what you represent and I’m watching you closely….

But my personal favorite post is this. (Note, all of Bennett’s posts at this point are public. I can read them without having “friended” the good senator.)

My FB page is closed unless I accept you as a friend. So for CAIR to see my post someone had to share it with them. I believe I have found the “leaker”!. I Fully stand behind what I said about CAIR but I am purging my FB friends list and will be taking care of the “sneaky Petes!” Lol.

And, in the time it has taken me to write this diary, I can no longer see any of Bennett’s posts unless we are “friends”. Not bloody likely, even in the interests of citizen journalism.

Again from The Oklahoman,

“We must shine a bright light on the role of the Muslim Brotherhood and its varied tentacles in the U.S.,” said Bennett, a U.S. Marine Corps reservist who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“These tentacles include un-indicted co-conspirators of the U.S. vs. Holyland Foundation trial like the Council on American-Islamic Relations here in Oklahoma.

Our borders are wide open to drug and human traffickers. Terrorism could come to Oklahoma just as easily.”

State GOP Leaders Defend Bennett

Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Dave Weston quadrupled down on teh crazy. I recommend reading his response in the original article in The Oklahoman.

My guess is that there is no political fallout in Oklahoma for a state party chair, especially a Republican, to come out as critical of anything Muslim. His responses certainly indicate that.

And then Oklahoma House Speaker Jeff Hickman spoke from a prepared statement regarding the issue on Sep 3.

All members of the Oklahoma Legislature are duly elected by and accountable to their constituents, and are free to voice their own opinions.

As Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, I have found that most Oklahomans welcome anyone who respects our laws, and embraces our state, our culture and our people.

So there’s that.

CAIR-OK Responds to the Response

Adam Soltani, executive director of CAIR-OK, gave an interview to The Oklahoman in which he stated that the group has denounced violence in the name of Islam.

People can say it all day and all night long, but CAIR does not stand with Hamas or any terrorists. Our track record proves we are about peace.

The group’s website has posted CAIR Condemns Killing of Journalist Steven Sotloff by ‘Anti-Islamic’ Terror Group ISIS as well as Let’s Call ISIS “The Un-Islamic State” and CAIR Condemns ‘Barbaric’ Killing of U.S. Journalist by Terror Group ISIS in reference to the murder of James Foley.
