The weekend symposium will consist of a leadership banquet with keynote speaker Representative George E. Young, Sr., a full day of workshops, and will conclude with a mock legislative debate in the House Chambers of the Oklahoma State Capitol building with special remarks from Senator Anastasia Pittman. In its 7th year of operation, MYLS aims to empower Oklahoma Muslim youth to challenge Islamophobia and to reclaim the image of Islam through positive social activism.

“Our Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium provides attendees with the tools and resources necessary to challenge Islamophobia, hate rhetoric and bigotry in our society,” said CAIR-OK Events Coordinator Anna Facci. “This year, we are focused on overcoming Islamophobia in personal and political lives of Muslim youth with workshops designed to educate students about forms of inequality, generate meaningful conversations about the importance of interfaith dialogues and emphasize the role of civic engagement in community leadership.”
