About the Prison Ministry Outreach Department

In 2021, the CAIR Oklahoma family welcomed a new initiative that expands our mission of justice and increases our reach in the Oklahoma Muslim community. The Suraltul Nur Foundation, a newly founded subsidiary of CAIR Oklahoma, provides educational services for incarcerated Muslims and protects their religious and civil rights against abuses by the Oklahoma prison system. Thanks to a working partnership with state and local prisons and jails, Suraltul Nur staff and volunteers are able to enter correctional institutions, work directly with incarcerated Muslims, and negotiate with DOC staff to ensure that inmates’ needs are being met.
