(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, 3/12/13) – On April 13, the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-OK) will host its 7th Annual Awards Banquet at the Oklahoma City Marriott.This event celebrates seven years of defending the rights of Oklahoma Muslims and of working to increase the understanding of Islam and Muslims in Oklahoma by breaking down barriers of intolerance and misunderstanding.

Speakers for this year’s banquet include Imam Johari Abdul Malik, outreach director for Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., and Ryan Kiesel, Esq., executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma.
The speakers will focus on this year’s theme, “Upholding our Constitution: Defending our Faith.” Additionally, entertainment will be provided by comedian and actor Omar Regan, who has acted alongside Chris Tucker and Katt Williams.
“When we first founded CAIR Oklahoma in 2006, we never envisioned that in seven years we would be at the forefront of civil rights issues in the state of Oklahoma,” said Adam Soltani, executive director of CAIR Oklahoma, “We are looking forward to sharing the accomplishments of the last year with our guests and to also outlining some exciting plans for our future.”
CAIR-OK is a chapter of America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
