(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, 6/04/14) – The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-OK) will be sponsoring an American Red Cross blood donation drive at the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. This is a part of CAIR-OK’s continuing Oklahoma Muslims Care campaign that kicked off last summer as a means to encourage Oklahoma’s Muslim community to give back to our local community.

On Friday, June 6th, Oklahoma Muslims will be joined by friends from other faith communities in donating blood at the Islamic Society of Greater OKC from 3 – 7 pm. Anyone is welcome to sign up to donate blood through CAIR-OK’s website form or by calling Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS.

“We are excited to partner with the American Red Cross to aid in vital, life-saving blood donation campaigns,” said CAIR-OK Development Coordinator Thomaira Babbit. “The Oklahoma Muslim community is composed of dedicated members of the broader Sooner community and they care about the well-being, as well as quality of life available to all Oklahomans in our great state.”

The Oklahoma Muslims Care campaign is a program designed to facilitate volunteer opportunities for Oklahoma Muslims to partake in that will show their pride in their state through giving back to individuals and communities in need. CAIR Oklahoma will continue this campaign throughout the summer with service days at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, food drives with Feed the Children, and more.
