(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, 2/5/13) –- On Wednesday, February 6, U.S. Muslim Air Force veteran Saadiq Long will attempt to return to Qatar after spending the last three months in Oklahoma visiting and caring for his terminally-ill mother.
With the assistance of the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-OK), Long arrived in the state on November 19, 2012, after a 6-month struggle to return to the United States after being placed on the NO-fly list.

Long is returning back to Qatar where he currently resides with his wife and child. He works in Qatar as a teacher and translator. Since returning back to Oklahoma, Long and his family have faced harassment by the FBI.

“It is our hope that Mr. Long will be able to board his flight on Wednesday without any difficulties,” said CAIR-OK Executive Director Adam Soltani. “He has shown remarkable patience in the face of many challenges he has faced in returning to Oklahoma.”
CAIR, a Washington-based Muslim civil rights organization, has dealt with a number of similar cases nationwide in which Muslim citizens are prevented from returning to the United States or faced government coercion when seeking to return home.
