[ William "Matt" Gardner ] Civil Rights

matt gardnerMatt is a recent graduate from Oklahoma State University with a degree in political science. He has worked largely with issues related to law and public policy, producing research and organizing for the public interest. After a year off, he hopes to pursue a career in law. Matt grew up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

 

 

 

 

 [ Ramzan Ugurchiev] Legislative Fellow

ramzanRamzan is a 2011 State Department Legislative Fellow. The Legislative Fellow program provides direct training for young professionals from various countries around the world. The program seeks to cultivate understanding of the U.S. legislative process and the role of civic society in politics. Ramzan took part in Fellow Training in Washington D.C. before arriving as the Governmental Affairs intern at CAIR-Oklahoma. Ramzan is from the Repubic of Ingushetia, a part of the Northern Caucausus region of Russia, where he serves as Chairman of the Republic's Youth Committee.

[ Kristopher Bradley ] Governmental Affairs

Kristopher Bradley is the Governmental Affairs intern. He received a Master’s degree in psychology at Oklahoma State University and is working on a PhD. After graduation he plans to pursue a career devoted to policy and human rights. He became interested in CAIR because of their dedication to civil liberties and civic engagement

 

 

 

 

[ Rosanne Salus ] Community Development

Rosanne Salus is CAIR-OK’s Community Development intern. She recently graduated Dove Science Academy and will be a freshman at the University of Oklahoma in the fall. She is currently undecided as to what major she will pursue. Rosanne advocates human rights and justice which is why she is very excited to be working CAIR to replace the prejudices against Muslims in her society with tolerance. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports and reading.

 

 

[ Amber Siddiqui ] Civil Rights

Amber Siddiqui is CAIR-Oklahoma’s Civil Rights Intern. She is a third year law student at the University of Oklahoma College of Law where she is an officer in the Organization for the Advancement of Women in Law and a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in International and Area Studies and minors in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic. Amber chose to intern for CAIR-Oklahoma because she was inspired by CAIR’s strong commitment to civil rights, community empowerment, and outreach. Amber’s professional interests include international law, human rights law, and immigration law. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and jewelry-making in her spare time.


[ Chelsea Scudder ] Outreach

Chelsea Steinauer-Scudder is a recent graduate from the University of Oklahoma with degrees in Religious Studies and Political Science, as well as a minor in French. She has been involved locally with the Xenia Institute, an organization dedicated to promoting dialogue and community interaction on issues of importance and concern. She plans to take a year off before beginning graduate school, during which time she hopes to obtain a masters degree in Religious Studies and International Relations, in order to aid in pursuing a long-term career in interfaith dialogue, diplomacy, and humanitarian efforts. Having spent most of her life in Norman, Oklahoma (except for one year in Massachusetts and a semester in France), she is looking forward to stepping out of the Midwest and getting some new experiences, both nationally and internationally.

[ Nasser Lucas ] Communications

Nataniel “Naseer” Lucas, which means 'helper,’ is CAIR-Oklahoma’s Communications Intern. He is currently majoring in Speech Communication at Southern Nazarene University. He likes to be involved in the community and enjoys learning about different cultures, and learning about how Islam impacts each individual. He became involved with CAIR because he admires the work, which they do for the Muslim community and outreaching to people from other faiths to better understand Islam. He hopes that Insha'Allah (God Willing), he gets to contribute a small amount of good into this world also.

[ Amal Abo-Basha] Civil Rights

Amal Abo-Bash is CAIR-Oklahoma’s Civil Rights Intern. She recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.  Amal has lived in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and has been to Honduras as part of Engineers without Borders’ effort to improve the community there.  While in school, Amal began volunteering through various community service groups to give back to the community.  CAIR’s mission and efforts in advocating civil rights motivated Amal to work with the CAIR-Oklahoma team to reach out to the Muslim community in Oklahoma.

 

[ Kristin Reed] Outreach

Kristin Reed is CAIR-Oklahoma’s Community Relations Intern. She is a student at the University of Oklahoma and majors in religious studies and ballet pedagogy. Throughout her years at OU, she has become increasingly more interested and devoted to the study of the world religions and has become a strong advocate for dialogue and respect between different cultures and religious traditions. She is very excited to work in community relations with CAIR and to have the chance to interact with and learn more about the beautifully diverse community that she lives in. She will be graduating in May of 2010 and hopes to pursue graduate studies in theology and chaplaincy.

[ Adam Bates] Outreach

Adam Bates was CAIR-Oklahoma’s Civil Rights Intern. Adam is currently pursuing a J.D. and an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan.  Adam earned a B.A. in Political Sciencefrom the University of Miami (FL) in 2007, and was also a member of the Hurricanes football team during that time. Adam is interested in civil liberties work for CAIR and protecting the rights of the individual, and American Muslims.

 

 

 

[ Faheem fazili] Governmental Affairs

faheemFaheem Fazili was CAIR- Oklahoma’s Government Affairs Intern.  Faheem is a student at Cornell University with an interest in political science and Islamic relations in America. He grew up in Edmond where he was a state champion debater and community leader. Faheem plans on attending law school after completing his degrees in History and Government at Cornell.

 

 

 

 

[ Amrish Sengupta] Communications

Amrish Sengupta was CAIR-Oklahoma’s Communications Intern.  He is a poet and resident of Oklahoma City. He is a student of Political Science at Oklahoma City University.  He has lived in IowaCalifornia, and returned to Oklahoma to be closer to his sister.
