Civil Rights? Get experience researching, writing, and assisting with consultations in specific constitutional or employment law, student rights, and immigrations delay cases. All work and litigation is supervised by a licensed attorney.

Communications? Gain knowledge of media practices by monitoring news coverage relating to civil rights and Muslims. Learn how to prepare press releases, conduct press conferences, write opinion pieces for newspapers, and work with local, skilled journalists.

Outreach? Foster relationships with leaders of the interfaith, activist, and nonprofit communities. Collaborate with creative individuals to host events such as public workshops, forums, cultural exchanges, and conferences that engage the wider Oklahoma community to the state’s diverse cultures.

Governmental Affairs? Gain field experience in grassroots organizing by planning and implementing a broad voter education and mobilization campaign in the 2012 election year. Stay current on local, state, and national happenings that affect the Muslim and minority communities, and engage politicians though mailing campaigns, phone calls, and meetings.

Interns may play a role in each department at CAIR-Oklahoma, providing many opportunities to gain diverse experiences and skills. Various projects & tasks will be assigned based on intern and staff consultations.

All internships are unpaid. College credit may be arranged.

CAIR Oklahoma is a chapter of America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
